Duct Systems
Duct systems in California leak an average of 30%. That is 30% of your heating and cooling bill going into the attic or crawl space of your home. If duct leakage occurs on the return side of the system it can draw in contaminated attic or crawlspace air and send it directly into the living space.
Duct leakage can be a main factor in comfort and moisture issues, performance problems, high energy bills and poor air quality. Another thing that hurts your systems performance is duct insulation. Normally our duct systems have about 1/4 the insulation they should. EPB will examine your duct system for leakage and insulation levels along with using the information from our HVAC diagnostics test can come up with a recommendation for duct sealing, duct insulation or duct replacement. New duct systems by EPB are always designed using ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America) Manual D (Duct Design) guidelines along with ACCA manual J (room by room load calculations).
All duct sealing and duct installation is done with an attention to detail well beyond that of industry standard. All of our new systems have a leakage rate of less than 3% and in a lot of cases down so low it cannot be tested. It is this attention to detail that helps ensure a healthy comfortable environment at a minimal operating cost for our clients.
